Hi all, I have just joined the forum as my interest in Bjärton guitars is growing I have a early- ish Camilla (54164039) and a BJ-12 (69476) My question is, which guitars are most sought after for their sound in each group. i.e. Classical/6 string steel/12 string. I'm actually looking for a 6 string steel, but another classical wouldn't hurt either I'm just trying to get a feel for which of these lovely guitars has best stood the test of time and which are generally considered favourites. Thanks. Aston (I'm English, but can just about understand the Swedish threads because I speak danish and live in København)

I think the answer to that question depends on who you ask. My opinion is yhat the steel string guitars are the best. Sammy, J45 etc. Have also tried some good nylon strings - and some that are not so good.

Hej Peter. Thanks for your reply. I think what I'm trying to find out is which out of all the classical guitars is the best build quality/tone/most sought after, and which out of the six strings is the best build quality/tone/most sought after etc. I am trying to find out which models to look out for. I went to look at a J45 today which was in fantastic condition, one careful owner, perfect case, just beautiful, but perhaps just a little expensive at 6000 danish kroner.

I think "classic" was the most expensive After that "estrella", "larita" "espania" but it changed through the years. I have tried them all. As I remember the one I found best was a La Rita

I've owned a few Bjärtons, they're built to last. I've read several good reviews of Jimmy and Sammy (both fan braced steel string models) and La Rita (nylon strings). The nylon string models may sound better with steel strings. How I rate the sound of my guitars: 50's La Rita (nylon) - 5/6 - Warm/mellow 60's Hagstrøm J2 (archtop) - 3/6 - Mediocre unplugged, amazing (6/6) plugged 60's Senorita (steel tuners, fan bracing) - 3/6 - Ok as I remember (owned it 30 years ago) 60's mystery model (steel tuners, fan bracing) - 5/6 - Nice open with nylon strings (haven't tried steel strings yet) 60's J-45 (steel) - 5/6 - Warm vintage 70's Bonita (nylon) - 3/6 - Nice bass, dull treble 70's Isabella (nylon) - 2/6 - Dull (5/6 with steel strings) 70's Rosita (nylon) - 3/6 - Nice bass, dull treble 80's Classic (nylon) - 2/6 - Harsh 80's Maria (nylon) - 4/6 - Balanced, quite open Adding a photo of the mystery guitar. Neck, back and sides look like Isabella, top like Estrella.
